About John Regan

Twice named ‘Designer of the Year’ by the Illinois State Florists Association and Illinois Allied Florists, 2017 will mark John’s 40th year working in the professional floral industry. He describes his style as “modern Flemish’ as a result of being drawn to discovering and working with a wide scope of flowers, foliage, naturals and non-traditional materials such as salvaged materials, porcupine quills, horsehair, silk, mohair, angora and handmade paper.

John’s work has appeared in Flower Fusion, the Japanese journal Florist, Town & Country, Elle Decor, Martha Stewart Weddings and most recently was the cover feature of the November 2016 issue of Florists’ Review. He was also a featured designer in the book Entertaining for Business. His northern IL floral studio Twisted Stem bears the tag line ‘Edgy & Elegant Floral Design’, which describes their non-traditional style.

Their clients are spread across the upper midwest and occasionally internationally. Weddings they produce can be as modest as $500, or as grand as in 2016 when John and staff produced a week of 3 parties and 1 wedding in Dubai with a flower cost in excess of $5 million.

New Digs for Mayesh Portland!

We have some big news in the Pacific Northwest… Mayesh Portland has MOVED! Don’t worry, we’re still in the Portland Flower Market , but we’ve taken over a much larger space inside the market, and we’re loving it. It’s fresh, open and oh so spacious. Check out these photos taken throughout the move last week, and if you’re in Portland, pop in and say hi!

This past weekend, Mayesh Portland hosted the Portland Flower Market Spring Wedding Show! Mayesh employee Jocelyn Kehrle reported on the show, keep reading for her recap!

The market was abuzz at 8am to see the much anticipated Franky Bollingh and Carolyn Shepard AIFD. Franky Bollingh started the show with an hour and a half segment of breathtaking designs! He has very innovative ideas which include dipping flowers and petals in wax, drizzling wax on arrangements, bending and manipulating wood and bark, and a really ingenious sprinkling of flower food on top of flowers to give the illusion of snow or frost on the flowers.

Carolyn Shepard AIFD was the second half of the show ending the day with a spectral bang! Bright and large arrangements kicked off her show with gorgeous summer colors. Adorned with wire and beads, it was a breath of fresh summer air! Beautiful Phalaenopsis orchids and Gloriosa from Mayesh took the stage, and our French tulips were to die for!

A big thanks to all of our vendors who donated and helped make this event so successful!
