Art In Full Bloom: Disco Celebration of Color

This was the 5th annual Art in Full Bloom and I have to say, it was the best one yet! Early on in the planning stages we settled on the theme of “Disco Celebration of Color” and as a super fan of disco, I was elated! With the help of Jim McCoy we were able to create an evening of full of dancing, socializing, networking, art and live entertainment! It was kind of like Mayesh’s version of Studio 54 and what better place than Vegas, baby!

This year we partnered with The Center, a community-based organization that helps furthering the human rights and overall well being of the LGBTQ community in South Las Vegas. This partnership was a perfect fit! Not only do we fully support their cause but the staff and crew were so amazing and easy to work with – everything came together seamlessly! Together we really pulled off a spectacular event.

Of course it would not be an Art in Full Bloom event without our favorite ladies Norma and Doris! They never seem to disappoint and bring so much life to the party. As usual their performance was crowd pleaser and their all night mingling makes for some fun and interesting conversation. They weren’t the only ones with a stellar performance, though. We also had a Diana Ross impersonator that was off the charts! The DJ was spinning disco classics all night long and everyone was shakin’ their groove thing! Our Floral Fantasy winner also designed an amazing art installation “Disco Cell” which provided the backdrop to many selfies and tons of photo ops!

I can’t say enough about this event! We manage to top ourselves every year and this year was no exception! If you were able to make it this year, then you understand how it would be impossible to capture the magic of the night through a blog post! If you weren’t able to make it out this year, there’s always next year!

2015 Art in Full Bloom Recap

Art in Full Bloom 2015
(Floral Fantasy winner, April Schwietz Mason of Mocha Rose)

This was the 4th annual Art in Full Bloom at our Mayesh Las Vegas branch. Each year it gets bigger and better and this year was no exception! Not only did we have an amazing turnout of about 200 guests but the art and flowers were out of this world. This year we added a new piece to the puzzle with a fashion show of designs from David Tupaz, Las Vegas’ premier couture designer. As always the entertainment for the night was provided by our two favorite ladies, Norma (Jim McCoy) and Doris (Jim Grifall) who gave us continuous laughs both on the stage and out mingling in the crowd. Our very own Design Star, Beth O’Reilly AIFD was also in attendance and gave a quick demo on how to make a flower crown. We even had a new addition to our photo booth… Johnny Depp! Well, the wax version of him from Madame Trousseau Wax Museum.

Mayesh would like to thank everyone who stopped by and joined in the festivities. Without you we wouldn’t have been able to raise over $6,000 for Safe Nest which is the driving force of this truly spectacular evening. We would also like to give a big thank you to Jim McCoy “Norma” and Jim Grifall “Doris”, MGM Resorts Events and of course the Floral Fantasy winners –Toni Andrade of Mayesh LAX and April Schwietz Mason of Mocha Rose Pittsburg, for making such outstanding designs. Great job to both of you ladies!

2014 Art in Full Bloom Recap

On November 14, Mayesh Las Vegas hosted their third annual Art in Full Bloom Benefit for SafeNest; a not-profit working with domestic crisis issues in Nevada.  The event had a great turn out and community response was absolutely amazing.

Over 30 local florists and 10 local artists exhibited their work along with the two winners of Mayesh’s national Floral Fantasy contest, Korie Mulleady and Noralyn Romak.  College of Southern NV student, Jessica Huth, won the student competition and for ‘Best Use of Color’; Danei Fowler and Rick Crause won Best in Art and Floral category, and Belinda Delcamp won Best in Flowers and Fashion.  A strolling pair of drag society matrons entertained the crowd with some comedy.  A silent auction, live demos by AIFD members, Julie Reed and Kenny Snauwert, and a live auction rounded out the evening.  Mayesh Las Vegas wants to thank everyone who participated and donated their time, effort, and resources for the event and made it a truly one of a kind experience.
