Group of two distinct floral foliages, known respectively as “Italian Ruscus” and “Israeli Ruscus”. The former is a handsome dark green foliage with a satin sheen that has long stems up to 3 feet. The true leaves are inconspicuous and are dominated by a fasciated stem, narrow, elliptical, and pointed, that resembles a leaf (cladophyll). In the fall, Italian Ruscus sporadically bears small spherical orange fruits.
The latter, “Israeli” Ruscus, is generally short with ovate pointed green modified stems that resemble leaves. Disturbingly long-lasting.
Incidentally, the names are derived from where the first intensive cut-flower production began of the respective varieties, and not a country of origin.
