Inspect flowers carefully upon arrival checking that the stems are neither slimy nor unduly split and that the flowers are not drooping or dropping from the stem. Some blooms should be open or opening. Stems should be cut and the flowers hydrated in a low sugar holding solution. Some leaves will separate from the stem after cutting; discard these or secure with rubber band. These flowers should preferably be processed in the cooler, and held at very low temperatures as they are cold weather crops.
