Commodore

Commodore is a generic term for a group of similarly looking dark green palmate fan shaped leaves. They are generally used in funeral work, although their use has been going out of fashion in the USA over the last twenty years. They are generally grown in Mexico and Guatemala, where they are extensively used in easel-type tributes, a style so ubiquitous that whether you are in the “Mercado de Flores”in Guatemala City, “Mercado Jamaica” in Mexico City or even in the side streets surrounding the Los Angeles Flower Market, they pretty much all look the same. It is an aesthetic that seems to have parameters almost as rigid as Ikebana.

Hardy, long lasting foliages, though there is some attrition due to packing issues, particularly with regard to Jade.
