SEO for Florists

SEO for Florist Live Video Recap

Why should you care about SEO? What is SEO – search engine optimization? How can you improve your SEO? So many questions and with only so many hours in a day, where do you start?

That is why we asked Eric Wu, an SEO, Product Manager, and Marketing Technologist from BloomNation to sit down with us for a live chat about SEO for florists. Search engine optimization is an ambitious topic, but I think this is a good starter conversation to kick-start your journey or at least have a better understanding of this subject matter. So if you weren’t able to make it or had to leave early, I hope you enjoy the video replay below.

Throughout the discussion, Eric reviewed some great resources and tools, and I wanted to make sure to provide a list for your reference.

I want to thank Eric Wu, David Schwartz and BloomNation for braving live video with us!! You guys rock! I also wanted to give a quick run-down about BloomNation for anyone who may not know about this company. First, I like what they offer florists and think what they are doing is great. They are not a wire service but more of a technology company that provides a web platform to build a website to sell your floral designs. The websites are excellent when it comes to user experience and you, the florist, have complete control over what is offered, pricing, etc. Bloomnation will also send a photographer out to capture professional pictures for the florist in addition to their continuous work on SEO (so the florists get found). The only risk to the florist is the time it takes to set everything up and change. While we know each florist business has their unique circumstances, I think it is well worth your time to look into BloomNation. To check it out, click here.

*** Some items featured are not in season during the winter***

The Bloom Project

The Bloom Project

You may remember a little while back, we highlighted some amazing organizations around the country that repurpose flowers to give back to their community in our SAF Petal it Forward blog.

One of those organizations was The Bloom Project in Bend, OR, founded in 2007 by Heidi Berkman. Mayesh Portland is a proud contributor to this project by donating product at the end of each week for them to turn into beautiful bouquets for hospice and palliative care patients. This week they were featured on KGW, a local news station in Portland, OR. Check out the video below to find out more about this inspiring organization.

Mayesh Carlsbad & UCCE Wreath Workshop

Guest Blogger: Shelley Anders

On October 26th, Mayesh Carlsbad hosted the UCCE Master Gardener Class here at our branch. Our class was held by Mayesh Sales and Marketing associate Shelley Anders who is also a retired professional floral designer with 30 years of retail floral experience. Shelley taught the lovely ladies from UCCE how to design an autumn wreath using fresh and dried floral materials. She also gave them a tour of the facility and explained to the class the history of Mayesh Wholesale and it’s contribution to the floral industry. The class had a great time and took home a beautiful finished product they were very proud of.

This is part of a new series of design workshops and educational classes that Shelley will be teaching at Mayesh Carlsbad this coming year. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more! And if you’d like more information about becoming a master gardener, please visit their website: Master Gardener Association of San Diego
