Even though it feels our Houston workshop was just yesterday, we have another one coming up in less than a week! We are so excited to be hosting our Charlotte workshop at the beautiful Historic Rural Hill barn in Huntersville, NC, which will be the perfect backdrop for the gorgeous furnishings that will be provided from local company Old South Vintage Rentals.
If you’re from North Carolina and surrounding areas, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with Samantha and her company, and if not, you’re missing out! Old South has a fabulous inventory of larger scale pieces with enough variety to fit whatever aesthetic your event may have.
So let’s learn a little bit more about Samantha and Old South Vintage Rentals, shall we?
Old South Vintage Rentals, L.L.C. is the first vintage & boutique rental company serving the Carolinas, established in 2012. OSVR is centrally located in Lincolnton, NC to be convenient to the areas they frequent most – Asheville, Charlotte, Boone/Blowing Rock, Highlands, Greensboro, Raleigh, Winston Salem, NC as well as Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston SC.
OSVR was founded by Samantha Campbell Mason, better known as “Sam”, a born hunter of antiques and boutique props and vintage admirer. Much time has been spent and many towns have been traveled to by Sam and her husband, Cody, to add only the most unique and sought after pieces to their curated collection. Sam loves designing, creating, and crafting & Cody is a master craftsmen, so no matter what your needs are for your special event or photography session you can be sure to adore what this dynamic duo will bring to the vintage adorned table.
To keep up with Sam and be the first to see what’s new at OSVR, be sure to follow them on Instagram, and stay tuned for some gorgeous images of their furniture at our Charlotte workshop!
For next week’s workshop, we’re lucky enough to have three sponsors graciously providing their services: gorgeous, silk ribbon from tono + co., pretty tabletop candles from Creative Candles, and trendy furnishings & accessories from local rental company Folklore! We couldn’t be more excited to feature these three fabulous companies and have their products be a part of the day. So let’s get excited and learn a bit more about each of them!
tono & co. is the passion of Janelle Nicole Wylie, owner of the floral company Lavenders Flowers. Working closely with brides for almost a decade, color became the natural center of Janelle’s work leading her to the tradition of hand-dying fabrics. tono & co. finds its inspiration in the first-hand knowledge Janelle gained while studying painting & color theory in Florence, Italy. In Italian, tono refers to the gradual increase in color tone, creating a fluid color spectrum. Through the learning process of mixing oil paint, Janelle developed a sensitivity to color tone. Her passions for combining color and texture have evolved into the art of hand-dyed textiles. (Images by Sposto Photograpy)
Folklore is the result of best friends Taylor & Maggie’s combined passion for furniture & design, here’s a little about how it all began:
What’s Folklore you ask? Well technically it goes something like this:
“Traditional stories and legends attached to a particular people, place, or object passed down from generation to generation.”
We look for pieces that have a past and tell a story. Pieces that aren’t afraid to show where they’ve been and what they’ve been through.
It all started with one upholstered chair and after that we began furiously buying amazing pieces of furniture, accessories, and so on without looking back. Slowly but surely we decided we would rent them for weddings, baby showers, and other events. Our collection grew fast, so fast in fact it spilled out from the garage into our hallways, living room, bedroom, kitchen until we built a structure on Maggie’s property. Only we had grown out of that by the day it was finished being built. In June 2014 we moved Folklore to our first warehouse and after two years we needed to upgrade again! Now we have a warehouse and office in San Marcos where we work alongside our talented team of employees.
For more than 50 years the artisans at Creative Candles have been hand-dipping and hand-pouring candles in Kansas City, Missouri. A unique proprietary blend of high-quality waxes is used to create beautiful one-of-a-kind candles and our craftsmen add their personal touch to give every candle a rich, matte finish. The result is truly something special – an exceptional smokeless, dripless candle with a slow and even burn.
As a small family-owned business our focus is always on relationships. Creative Candles’ service and sales representatives, clients and vendors are extensions of our family and those relationships are of the utmost importance to us.
Raise your hand if you’re excited as we are! And if you still haven’t purchased your ticket, now is the chance with only two seats left!
