And the 2017 Pantone Color of the Year Is…

As someone with a degree in Interior Design and now working in the flower industry, my inner design geek waves its flag every year as we await Pantone’s big reveal! I’m sure many of you can relate, and this year was no different.

Well, the wait is finally over, and I have to say, I’m pretty excited over the 2017 pick! Not only is my favorite color green, but it goes hand in hand with the garden style that is so popular in floral design right now, and in my humble opinion, here to stay. On top of all that, we use the words “foliage” and “greenery” interchangeably, so both the color and its name couldn’t be more fitting.

To find out all the beautiful types of greenery (see how perfect it is?!) Mayesh has to offer, including but not limited to the products below, be sure to reach out to your local branch or sales rep to get your hands on all the greens! And if you don’t already have a sales rep, you can get started here.

So, what do you guys think? Are you into next year’s Color of the Year or are you already awaiting 2018?

2015 Pantone Color of the Year Marsala

Yep, it is officially that time of the year!  No, I’m not talking about the holidays, but rather the time when Pantone announces its color of the year!  For all of us design and color nerds, this news is always exciting.  As you may already know, the 2015 Pantone Color of the Year is Marsala.  I wanted to provide a little Marsala floral inspiration and wanted to find out what you think about it (click to view board on Pinterest).  Do you think Marsala will be a popular color for weddings, events and everyday florals?

2015 Pantone Color of the Year

Floral, Event & Wedding Trend Alert: Orange

Knock, knock.
Who’s there?
Orange.
Orange who.
Orange you glad to see me?

had to start with a knock-knock joke because of two reasons.  One, for some reason orange reminds me of that joke and two, my daughter is OBSESSED with knock-knock jokes (she is turning 5 next month)!  On with the point of this post … I want to talk trends again!  And that trend would be orange.

Radiant Orchid is the Pantone color of the year, but the citrusy color, Celosia Orange is taking a stand this year!  Get your dose of vitamin c by incorporating this bright juicy color in your floral designs!  You will see this color pop up in make-up, clothes, accessories which always translates into our world of flowers.  And I think orange is an amazing color for your clients who really want to make a statement.  It pairs well with other bright colors like pinks, purples and yellow, but also can be used  by mixing with the never-ending love for anything peach as well provide a great punch of color when paired with gray.  The possibilities are great and I created a Pinterest board filled with this color of the moment – not all of us can rock orange lipstick, but we all can enjoy orange flowers.  Enjoy!

Pantone Color of the Year 2014: Radiant Orchid

Yesterday, Pantone announced its 2014 color of the year, Radiant Orchid!  While this color is beautiful combination of purples and pinks, it seems that it is controversial (isn’t every color??).  I was convinced that the new color of the year would be a deep blue of some sort.  iStockphoto even asked color experts for their predictions and no one came close!!  Color really evokes many different emotions from people depending on their life experiences.  But following last year’s color, Emerald (not my favorite), I think it is a great color that the floral industry will embrace as it represents joy, love and health.  Radiant Orchid will go well with pastels, as well as the richer tones of purple and fuchsia.  I can see this color combined with metallic as well, especially gold, which is super on trend right now.

Need a little Radiant Orchid floral inspiration?  Be sure to check out our Pinterest board below.  Share with us how you envision Radiant Orchid being used in the coming months in the comments below!!
