On November 4th, Mayesh Orange County hosted an open to unveil their new 2,795 square foot cooler. There was amazing food and beverage being served as well as good conversation and industry networking. The new layout of the location looks beautiful and what better way to celebrate than to have our very own Mayesh Design Star, Beth O’Reilly AIFD, come in, decorate and demo designs for the event. There were four vignette style set-ups to demonstrate holiday inspired design.
The first was a fall theme where she showed us how to make the studded pumpkins much like the ones seen on our November Inspired Floral Design video and along with vase arrangements using pomegranate and green wheat.
The second vignette was a how-to on making custom wreaths and how you would go about ordering one from Mayesh.
The third was a short explanation on how she made the beautiful white arrangement that was in our cooler lounge where we were serving drinks and cold appetizers.
And for the last vignette Beth demonstrated a full-on holiday themed wedding event. A sweetheart table dripping with roses, dresses made of Christmas greens, pinecone rosettes, a beautiful cake table and of course a stunning composite bridal bouquet.
If you were able to make it out, we hope you had as good of a time as we did! Thank you to Beth O’Reilly and all of the OC staff for creating such a great night!

Let your inner fashion maven soar! In our Françoise Weeks Botanical Couture Workshop you will create floral-infused purses, shoes, headpieces and jewelry. Françoise will be your mentor as you discuss and practice constructing the mechanics involved in creating a wide variety of these unique couture designs. A discussion about sourcing a variety of materials will be encompassed in the workshop as well. Here are the details:
Here are more details on the specific botanical couture pieces you will learn to design:
A floral purse can be used as a centerpiece, bridal bouquet, or as adornment for the flower girl. Observe the mechanics that are used to create a structure that imitates the elaborate style of couture. Once your base is created, let your imagination run wild with how to cover it: foliage, petals, gilded leaves, feathers or sisal materials.
Elegant and gorgeous, fairytale slippers are a striking addition to fashion shows, bridal showers and weddings. Floral shoes can be created from wire structures or using an old shoe as a base that can then be worn! Once the foundation is laid, styles can vary widely depending on your choice of flowers and foliage.
Aluminum wire will be manipulated to create the base for botanical rings, bracelets, necklaces and even scarves and for the earrings we will start with a set of inexpensive earrings and decorate them elegantly. These beautiful detailed pieces will make for unique accessories for any event or wedding.
When it comes to floral millinery, a design may be lush and vibrant or simple and elegant. The elements used all add up to a unique floral headpiece design. After fashioning a basic armature that can be bent or shaped, your creativity will be called upon to construct these cascading arrangements. Flowers, striking foliage and bundles of berries compose a picture perfect floral headpiece.

In the middle of the Valentine’s Day holiday, our Orange County location hosted Horizon Group, a group of special needs adults. The day included a tour of our facility, a short presentation about where our flowers come and how they are transported. Additionally, the group enjoyed a hands-on flower arranging class as well as a barbeque for all the adults in the program, the aides, teachers and Mayesh staff.
“In the craziness of the holiday, it was really great to end it very humble and giving to those with needs. I think the staff enjoyed it and we know the young adults enjoyed it a bunch.” – Jill Dahlson

Our Orange County branch put a spin on their pumpkin carving event by including a food drive and bake sale to raise money for a local charity,Illumination Foundation. Their Harvest Festival was successful and a whole bunch of fun.
The branch made around $350 from the bake sale, and collected a BIG box of canned food items. A special thank you goes out to Polly’s Pies, Starbucks, and Vons for their corporate donations, and to Baker Party Rentals for their tables and linens. We could not have pulled it off without our sponsors, not to mention the countless hours of baking and decorating that the Mayesh employees did on their own time.
A friend of Orange County, Ellyn from Vons, gave up her day off, took the time to help collect the money for the bake sale, baked items for the bake sale, and gave a $25.00 gift card.
It is really nice to kick off a season of giving with such great people!! Check out the pictures below from the event:
