With a passion for people & flowers, this designer demonstrates what it means to love both the art and artists within the floral community.  Coming from the rural prairie, a hunger for culture & connectivity keeps Jodi on a quest for new friends and new trends. With social media at her side & AIFD accreditation under her belt, she has traveled as far as Scotland, Paris & London, gathering floral knowledge & friendships along the way. Marketing & merchandising are favorite topics. She loves life with her husband, daughters & a golden doodle, and this 2013 Design Star has 25 years of floral experience and looks forward to the Mayesh journey!

Floral Perspective: Valentine's Day Roses with Patience Pickner AIFD PFCI

We are excited to introduce a Mayesh Design Stars Finalist Patience, Pickner AIFD PFCI, in her first video for her series. Patience will show us a fun and playful way to give a dozen “florgasmic” red roses for Valentine’s Day. Featured product: plumosa, ruscus, smoke bush, was flower, green trick dianthus, willow, lily grass and of course the roses – Freedom, Tinto, Hearts. November's Fresh Take on Floral Design: How to Make a Cornucopia

This month Jodi Duncan AIFD shows us how to fill up a cornucopia with gorgeous fall flowers, fruits and a whole lot of texture! A cornucopia is also known as a horn of plenty and there is plenty of product to go around! Calla lilies, chestnuts, pomegranate, dahlias, and garden roses are just a few that make this harvest so bountiful!

Jodi Duncan AIFD explores vegetative design with a twist for October's Fresh Take. Combined with a terracing floral design technique along with moss, dahlias, magnolia leaves, pincushion protea, celosia (coxcomb), scabiosa,uhule curls (fiddlehead fern), mango calla lilies, sedum, UCI's glass Hanging Droplet containers, lady slipper orchids, and dendrobium orchids, Jodi creates the perfect floral design to transition us into fall and to inspire.

September's Fresh Take on Floral Design: Florist in the Forest

For September, Jodi Duncan AIFD takes us on a journey through the forest - bringing inspiration from the waterfalls, trees and the lichen covered branches to this month's whimsical woodland design. The floral arrangement utilizes UCI's natural wood bowl, dahlias, scabiosa, hanging amaranthus, garden roses, hypericum berry, gerrondo gerbera, coxcomb celosia, Safari Sunset leucadendron, and roses.

August's Fresh Take: Ombré Wedding

Ombré colored events are on trend and in this month's Fresh Take, Jodi Duncan AIFD created a whole ombré wedding just for you. Jodi demonstrates on how floral designers can help a bride out on a bad hair day and then you will be swept through the ombré wedding wonderland that she created in a little chapel near her hometown including a bouquet, pew decor, and alter flowers.
The ombré palette was creating using flowers in peach, melon, and red colors. While creating an ombré design, don't forget about picking up some Design Master spray to help blend your colors just right.

July's Fresh Take: Catersource Floral Merchandising Strategy

This month Jodi Duncan, AIFD and Andy Arthur, Fresh Flower Buyer at Mayesh Detroit, walk you through process of creating a cohesive look by using an analogous color scheme. For our booth at Catersource 2013 we used the colors green, blue and purple. We understood our goal and by using, vanda orchids, purple anemones, dyed blue cymbidiums, blue hydrandea, green hanging amaranthus, flocked tulips, green hydrangea, and clematis we were able to execute it. The array of white containers from UCI really made the flowers pop and gave our booth a totally fresh look! If you didn't get a chance to stop by in Vegas, we hope you enjoy our booth!

June Fresh Take: Aquatic Bouquet

To kick off summer, Jodi Duncan AIFD is back in Viva Las Vegas to go even further outside the box.... and into a fish tank! The Silverton Hotel in Las Vegas actually has an underwater chapel! Jodi is going to show you how to make the perfect bouquet for an aquatic themed wedding or even and underwater wedding! This simple design features purple phalaenopsis orchids, purple mokara orchids, green hanging amaranthus, and fire stick euphorbia. The "Open Orb" container from UCI and the blue aluminum wire from Oasis are perfect accents to make this underwater bouquet make a huge splash! May Fresh Take: Rock 'n' Roll Bouquet

Jodi Duncan, AIFD bangs out a rockin' wedding bouquet fit for the Kiss chapel in fabulous Las Vegas. This design shows that thinking outside the box can turn your basic bridal bouquet into a rock 'n' roll hit! Starting with a grande bouquet holder, wire and Uglu strips, Jodi cranks up the volume by adding bear grass, died plumosa, red ti leaves, burgundy cymbidiums, African mask foliage, helleborus, burgundy peonies and begonia foliage.

April's Fresh Take: Flower Jewelry

This month Jodi joined us in our booth at Catersource Conference & Tradeshow to demo quick and easy designs. We got so inspired after the show that we wanted to expand on some of the wearable flower jewelry she showcased at the booth. These design are perfect for Mother's Day, weddings, and prom. Featured items are, dendrobium orchids, mokara orchids, phaleonopsis orchids, bear grass, and Magical Green eryngium.

March's Fresh Take: Trough & Basic Floral Arrangements

Mayesh's 2013 Design Star, Jodi Duncan AIFD, shows us a different take on the UCI Mill Stone Collection trough and basin containers by making the prefect arrangement to transition us from winter into spring. Using red dogwood, burgundy snapdragons, novelty tulips, scented geranium and pops of awesome succulents Jodi creates a very modern arrangement with a natural and earthy feel.

February's Fresh Take: Floral Armature & Boutonnieres

Mayesh's 2013 Design Star, Jodi Duncan AIFD, discusses her floral armature design for her client who will be proposing to his soon-to-be fiancé utilizing UCI's "wedge" container, stainless steel zip ties along with Pink Duke protea, Pink Flamingo calla lilies, tulips, and cherry blossom branches. A feminine and romantic design that has a masculine edge. Afterwards Jodi examines what the wedding boutonniers could look like as the armature as the inspiration using silver wire, zip ties, rustic wire, Uglu strips, protea, succulents, berzelia berry.
